Benefits Knowledge
Plain-language explanations, compliance issue-spotting, carrier and vendor information, FAQs, strategy notes, and practical reference material organized for quick use.
BenefitLab is being built to help insurance and employee benefits professionals learn faster, explain benefits more clearly, and turn scattered information into useful work.
Instead of more scattered PDFs, class notes, carrier guides, spreadsheets, and generic AI answers, BenefitLab is being built as a practical place to find answers and get work done.
BenefitLab is easier to understand when it is reduced to the outcomes agents need most: find reliable answers, keep learning, and get client work done faster.
Plain-language explanations, compliance issue-spotting, carrier and vendor information, FAQs, strategy notes, and practical reference material organized for quick use.
CE and non-CE training that teaches agents what they need to know while also strengthening the larger BenefitLab knowledge base.
Quoting, renewal extraction, open enrollment resources, templates, prompts, workflows, and other tools built around the way benefits work actually gets done.
The upcoming BenefitLab membership is designed to bundle the resources agents need into one practical platform.
Instead of jumping between PDFs, carrier guides, old CE handouts, spreadsheets, saved emails, and generic AI answers, members will have a growing library of benefits knowledge, training, templates, workflows, and tools built for real client situations.
As the platform grows, the goal is to support AI answers grounded in curated benefits material rather than generic internet-level responses.
Most people still think of AI as a writing tool. It can certainly help with emails, articles, presentations, and client communication, but that is only scratching the surface.
This practical live class is part training and part show-and-tell. We will look at real projects AI helped create, including websites, client resources, presentations, benefit portals, workflows, tools, calculators, courses, books, and more.
This class is not approved for CE credit. The focus is learning what AI can actually help insurance and benefits professionals do.
BenefitLab tools turn benefits knowledge into practical outputs agents can use with clients, including quoting support, renewal extraction, open enrollment resources, templates, prompts, and workflows.
An Excel-based small group quoting tool originally called Stella. It helps agents create client-friendly quote outputs without going online.
Upload a Blue Cross renewal packet and extract the key details agents need for quoting, renewal review, and client communication.
Create mobile-friendly open enrollment portals that explain benefits, show costs, include instructions, and support employee acknowledgement.
Practical resources for renewals, client communication, compliance reviews, onboarding, AI prompting, and agency processes.
Some BenefitLab resources will remain public because the industry needs better plain-language explanations and practical ideas that are easy to find.
One useful thing each week: an insight, tool, deep dive, interview, CE opportunity, case study, or practical explanation.
A no-login, no-cost FAQ site with plain-language answers for agents, employers, employees, and consumers.
An employer compliance subscription site, built with ABY Benefits, that provides checklists, explanations, templates, tools, and outsourcing options.
BenefitLab was created by Eric Johnson, a longtime health insurance professional, CE instructor, writer, and tool-builder who has spent nearly three decades helping agents understand and explain benefits.
Eric has worked across the insurance industry, including carrier, agency, general agency, HSA administration, TPA, compliance, writing, CE, and tool development. BenefitLab brings that experience together with AI, structured knowledge, education, and practical tools.
The purpose is simple: help agents learn faster, explain benefits more clearly, and have better resources at the moment they need them.
Expected launch: July 2026.
