And the fourth is the loop left open, no feedback: you never check what actually stuck, so you cannot tell the learning that changed you from the learning that merely entertained you, and you keep pouring effort in with no idea what it is producing.
A Quick Audit and One Change
Run the ten questions on your own learning, briefly, and the diagnosis is usually fast. What outcome is it supposed to produce: real, durable capability. What are the inputs: probably plentiful, probably fine. What transformation happens: this is almost always where it breaks, with consumption standing in for application and teaching. What feedback comes back: usually none. Where does work pile up, what depends on willpower, what breaks: the honest answers tend to point at the same constraint, which is that there is no real transformation stage, only intake.
So make one change, on the constraint, not on the input. The instinct is to fix learning by consuming better or more, a new system of reading, a faster way to get through books. That is improving a non-constraint. The leverage is downstream, in the part that is missing. The single highest-value move for almost everyone is to add the teach stage, to take one thing you are trying to learn and commit to making it teachable, building it into a clean module you could actually hand to someone. Do that and the whole loop changes character. The teaching forces the understanding, the module becomes a kept asset, and you suddenly have feedback, because the act of teaching shows you exactly what you did and did not truly grasp.
